Music Curriculum Intent
"Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity."
The National Curriculum
Our curriculum at Muscliff is designed to ignite a love of music and inspire an interest in a range of musical styles and traditions throughout history. We want our children to develop imagination and creativity, find their voice as singers and become confident performers. We teach children to listen to, review and evaluate music and to understand how music is created, produced and communicated. We teach technical vocabulary such as volume, pitch, beat and rhythm and encourage children to discuss music using these terms. Our aim is that, as they progress, they develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to create and compose music and express themselves with confidence. Our curriculum gives children access to diverse musical experiences and encourages them to appreciate music in all its forms and understand the value of it in the wider community.
