Curriculum Intent:

At Muscliff Primary, we believe that we use language to communicate with others, to establish relationships and a sense of self, and to express who we are; it is an integral part of being human. The gain of a second language is a wonderful thing, it enables children as it acts as a gateway to a new culture, helping to broaden horizons and improve children’s receptivity to new ideas and values. This kind of cross-cultural understanding is an important attribute in today’s globalised world.

Our KS2 French teaching is guided by the fantastic Language Angels. This scheme of work supports teachers and learners alike through clearly planned lessons which provide accurate pronunciation for all non-French speakers to master. Learning a new language can be feel daunting at first, however, through weekly thirty-minute lessons children immediately realise how fun language learning can truly be!
