Our topic this term will centre around the sciences, with a focus on both forces (gravity, air resistance and water resistance) and space, where we will explore the planets, the moon, the stars and as far as our imagination can take us! We will use our knowledge to produce presentations all about space and how astronauts can survive on the ISS.

Our 'beautiful text' is Glow. Year 5 use Glow for the wonder of the illustrations and the beautiful construction of the layout to make each page so unique that it draws the eye across the page! One of the most impressive features is the inclusion of links to ancient myths about the planets and constellations, which provides wonderful links to our previous and future learning across our history curriculum.

Glow is a goldmine when it comes to developing English skills: high-quality scientific vocabulary, a range of clause type, parenthesis and of course all of the features of a non-fiction text! It really brings our universe to life!
