Phonics

Hangman phonics

You know the game but are you using it to deepen phonics/reading knowledge? A quick guide to help you.

So Mrs H was in school and spotted Muscliff Mouse and friends doing some phonics game to practise 'ar' digraph. They said I could show it to you and maybe you could play at home.
1. ask your adult to write some words on a piece of card/paper.
2. ask your adult to wrap them up in paper so it's like Pass the Parcel but with words.
3. Take it in turns to pass the phonics parcel to music and when the music stops, that person gets to unwrap and read the word.
4. Keep going until you get the last word. Who got the sticker in Muscliff Mouse's game?
5. Add the digraph/trigraph lines and sound buttons onto the words.
