Friday 15th November - Head teacher's message
This week has been a busy one. We started on Monday with our 2 minute silence, showing respect and recognition for those who have lost their lives in wars. As is the tradition at Muscliff the whole school joined together on the playground, standing silently in circles, holding hands – a truly poignant moment. Mrs Huns talked to the children in assembly about why we upheld that tradition and why we wear poppies.
On Tuesday and Thursday many of you came to parents evening to see your children’s work and learn of their progress. I hope you found this informative and useful. Thank you for your ongoing support. For those of you who missed the book fair on these evenings, there will be a catalogue sent out in the next week for you to purchase children’s books at a reduced cost, while also supporting the school!
Today we have enjoyed raising money for Children In Need by wearing our sporty clothes. It was great to see children across the school joining Joe Wicks in a morning workout. Unfortunately the live stream didn’t work for everyone at the time, but we were all able to follow his other exercise routines and start our day in a positive way. Many of the children enjoyed a run around the playground with our very own marathon runner, Mr Andrews, during lunch time today!
With the cake sale promising to be a big success too (given the pile of cakes parents kindly donated and the number of children buying this afternoon) we hope to raise a good amount to support children who are less fortunate. The final amount raised will be announced in Monday’s assembly, when I will be joined by our House Captains to talk to the children about our ‘responsibility’ to care for others.
Our Parent Association are very busy planning the Christmas Fayre (7th December) – please look out for the email being sent regarding the details of the Fayre and how you can help. We desperately need volunteers to run stalls on the day – please sign up to a half hour slot if you can. The next meeting is at school on Thursday 21st at 7.15pm. Everyone is welcome to come along to find out more about the MPA.
The weather has turned a little colder this week. Please make sure your child has a (named) coat in school as we move into winter time. Many thanks.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend. Mrs Fenby
