Friday 27th March

We hope that you have had a good first week of learning at home. The Year 5 team misses you and we have loved receiving your emails and finding out what you have been getting up to.

Below are some of the wonderful things you have been doing this week:

Ben has been doing lots of activities this week. Here is picture of the fantastic poster about Greek gods that he created!

We loved reading Katie’s piece of writing based on ‘Who Let the Gods Out’. She created a new neighbour, Charlotte, and wrote a lovely character description and dialogue. Katie has created a detailed fact file about Greece and also sent in a photo some of the cupcakes she made – delicious!

Katie is not the only person learning about a country, Bryony and her sister have been finding out facts about Jamaica and they have been challenged to find Jamaica in an Atlas every day.

A lot of the children across the country have been creating rainbows and have been placing them on their windows for people to spot when out for their daily walk. Here is a picture of the rainbow that Charlie's family created.

Each week we will be adding new tasks onto the ‘Working at Home March 2020’ page. New tasks that have been added this week are in blue.

From Monday, we recommend completing one White Rose Maths lesson each day. These are a great set of resources that contain both a short video tutorial and practise sheet (answers also supplied).

Please remember to keep gaining doodle stars daily. This is the current leader board for Doodle Maths in Year 5:

  1. 5RD
  2. 5KF
  3. 5BP

Have a look on the blog next week to see what percentage each class has improved by!

PE challenge: see Miss Fisher’s skipping challenge below. We would love to see how you get on with it!

It has been lovely to hear what you have been up to, please keep sending us regular updates. (Please note that we can’t include any photos on the blog that include children’s faces).

Have a lovely weekend,

The Year 5
